VCE Camp
Miss Lisa Dunne
The Class of 2026 began the school year together at the Year 12 Study Camp, held at the La Trobe University campus.
Students were accompanied, at various points throughout the two days, by: Mr Ellul, Mr Turner, Ms Frazer, Ms Dunne, Ms Thomson, Ms Simmons, Mr Chuah, Ms Daley and Ms Alexander.
The program included a session where students learned about research-based study and revision strategies and our school psychologist, Merinda Brown, shared practical advice for students on maintaining their wellbeing and outlined the supports available to them during this demanding year.
Ms Alexander provided valuable careers guidance. Students engaged closely with the material and explored a range of post-school pathways through the recommended websites.
A VCE English masterclass was delivered by VCAA consultant Felicity Williams. She gave students clear insight into what assessors look for and which skills to refine throughout the year. As English is a prerequisite for many post-school pathways, students were keen to absorb her wisdom.
Alongside the serious business of preparing for the rigours of Year 12, there was time for fun and games. Ms Frazer’s trivia and team challenges were a standout — and eating two dry Weet-Bix proved harder than expected. And, of course, we watched MAFS! Essential viewing and a great bonding experience!
Unlike last year’s camp, the weather was kinder to us and, generally, students and staff enjoyed a good night’s sleep. Some even got the day off to a flying start with a run at 6 AM.
Thank you to all Greensborough College staff who organised and supported the camp, and to our students for their positive attitude and genuine involvement.
