English Learning Area

Mr Rycroft and Miss Dunne

It has been a very positive start to the year. We are very pleased to welcome several new members to our English team. Ms Ritchie and Ms Sellar have joined us from other schools, and Mr Harber will also be part of the English teaching line-up in 2026. We are delighted to have them all on board and appreciate the enthusiasm, expertise and fresh ideas they have already brought to our English classrooms.

In addition, students in Years 7 to 10 have completed their Renaissance testing and staff are currently analysing the data. This data is a valuable tool, allowing teachers to make informed decisions about how best to support each class and help every student achieve their personal best.

Across all year levels, engaging learning activities are taking place daily, and students are responding with curiosity and energy. We are also looking forward to a number of excursions, including the upcoming, and much-anticipated, Year 9 Squizzy Taylor Experience, which will bring classroom learning to life - thanks to Miss Dodd!

A number of brand-new texts will be studied by students across the year levels throughout this year. For some reason, people always seem to remember which texts they studied at school all their lives, so we hope students will enjoy the texts we have chosen. And, as always, we are keeping Georgia busy with book borrowing in the library.

We know 2026 will be a rewarding year of reading, writing, speaking, listening and learning together.
