Principal's Message

Welcome Claire D to 5/6JS

This week, our 5/6JS class said goodbye to Jess as she begins her family leave. We would like to thank Jess for her dedication, care and commitment to her students throughout the year, and we wish her all the very best as she prepares to welcome her newest family member. We look forward to hearing the exciting news of the safe arrival of her little one in the coming weeks.

We were also pleased to welcome Claire D to the Year 5/6 team this week. Claire will be taking over the class while Jess is on leave.

We know the students are in very capable hands with Claire and Sam.

Welcome  to School Council

We are delighted to welcome Anna Dowling to School Council. Anna is the mum of Matilda, Daniel and Ben, and has recently joined the Council to fill one of our two vacant parent representative positions.

We are grateful to Anna for volunteering her time and expertise to support our school community. School Council plays an important role in shaping the strategic direction of our school, and we look forward to Anna's valuable contributions as we continue to work together to provide the best possible outcomes for our students.

Community Crafternoon

In a few weeks, the Wellbeing Team will be hosting a Community Crafternoon, and you’re all invited!

Join us in the hall from 3:00–4:00pm (or drop in at any time that suits you) to say hello, take part in a simple craft activity to enjoy at home with your family, and connect with the Wellbeing Team.

Senior Athletics

Senior House Athletics Carnival has gone live on Compass. We are looking for parents to support on Wednesday 19th August from 9.30am to 2.30pm.

We need the support of around 10 parents to operate the Field events and help timing for track races. If you are able to volunteer for a half day even that would be greatly appreciated and ensure the smooth running of the day.

Feel free to email David if you are able to help on the day in any way-david.kight@education.vic.gov.au

Premiers' Reading Challenge!

The 2026 Victorian Premiers’ Reading Challenge is well underway!  This year’s theme is ‘Stories to discover. Stories to tell’. It’s all about discovering new books, and a love of reading.  The Challenge is for children from birth to Year 10. Participants and their parents, carers are encouraged to set a reading goal and choose from thousands of wonderful books throughout the Challenge.

Parents and carers – we need your continued help. Reading together is one of the most powerful ways we can help kids build their literacy skills, and the confidence to pick up books on their own.

Student logins were handed out to students last term.

The Challenge isn’t a competition. Everyone is on their own reading adventure. Participants who complete their reading goal will get a certificate signed by the Premier and past Premiers of our state.

Keeping Our School Healthy

As we move through the winter months, we are seeing an increase in coughs, colds and other illnesses circulating throughout our community. We kindly ask all families to keep children at home if they are unwell. While we know this can sometimes be inconvenient, keeping sick children home helps reduce the spread of illness and protects both our students and staff.

When students attend school while unwell, germs can spread quickly through classrooms, resulting in more children and staff becoming sick and impacting learning across the school. Thank you for helping us maintain a healthy learning environment for everyone by ensuring children return to school once they are feeling well.
