News from Foundation

Wow! What an excellent time we have been having at school, and this week we had our last Wednesday off! It has been amazing to see all the progress that the Foundation students have made in getting into the routine of school! Here is what we have been up to.....
Maths
Number
We have been starting our maths lessons each day by practising some different maths skills such as counting collections, matching numbers and quantities, making patterns and sequencing events.
Time
Over the past two weeks, the Foundation students have been learning about time in terms of sequencing events and tasks and labelling what time of the day an event happens. They have also been learning the days of the week in order and practising the song to the tune of The Addams Family! Using the story of the Very Hungry Caterpillar, the Foundation students discussed the days of the week and created their own caterpillars and described the days based on what the caterpillar ate.
The Foundations then talked about the difference between a weekday and a weekend. Here are some pictures of what they do on a weekday vs a weekend.
Literacy
The Foundation students have learned their first set of letters SATPIN!!! How exciting! They have been beginning to write and read short words and blend sounds together. Here are some photos of a picture search for things beginning with the letter n!!!
