日本語 Japanese

Konnichiwa from Japanese class! Grades 3, 4, 5 and 6 have been learning Hiragana in this term. The Japanese language has three types of characters: Hiragana, Katakana, and Kanji. Hiragana and Katakana are phonetic symbols, each representing one syllable, while Kanji is an ideogram, each representing a certain meaning. It is time-consuming and requires a great effort to remember all Hiragana; however, they seem to enjoy making Hiragana art and playing games each lesson.
Meanwhile, the Foundation has started reading Japanese picture books to learn some phrases. This book is called きんぎょがにげた (The goldfish got away), and students love drawing their own lolly jar with their goldfish hiding inside.
Please come and have a look at our Japanese classroom located in the library on the open day on Tuesday, the 31st of March. Looking forward to seeing you all.
That's all from us!
Please do not hesitate to share any concerns or suggestions regarding the Japanese lesson!
