TECHNOLOGIES

Technologies at MSC

Food Technology

Students across all year levels have been building their understanding of food safety and hygiene, with a strong focus on connecting classroom practices to real-world food technology settings. Year 8 students are developing confidence and safe routines in the kitchen, while Years 9 and 10 are settling into new class groups and building their practical skills. Year 10 students recently prepared Korean noodles, while also learning to track and evaluate changes made to recipes and processes.

Design Technology

There has been plenty of designing and making underway in Design Technology! Year 10 students are exploring prototyping, including creatively reusing recyclable materials from previous student projects. Years 8 and 9 are developing their 2D design skills and progressing through their first learning tasks. Across our design subjects, students continue to build confidence with the design process, digital tools and communicating their ideas.

Digital Technologies

Digital Technologies students are exploring how data and digital systems connect to the world around them. Year 10 students are investigating databases, data visualisation and how information can be used to make informed decisions, including looking at familiar systems such as Compass from both a user and data perspective. Our Year 7 students have been tackling the challenge of binary, building an understanding of the foundations that will support their future learning in Digital Technologies.

Our VEX Robotics students have also moved into their new dedicated robotics space. It has been fantastic to see the room being used for its intended purpose and to see other students stopping by, looking in and becoming curious about robotics!

After-School Robotics Club

Our After-School Robotics Club has officially kicked off! Students meet every Monday from 3:00–4:00 pm to build, program and experiment with VEX Robotics in a relaxed, collaborative environment. Later in the year, we are also looking forward to visiting a robotics competition so students can observe teams in action and get a taste of competitive robotics.
