WELLBEING

It’s been an exciting start to the term, with a lot happening across the school to support student wellbeing, connection and positive relationships.
We’re excited to welcome Jamuna, our Secondary School Nurse, to the Wellbeing Team. Jamuna will be onsite at school on Tuesdays and Thursdays, supporting students and providing health education and promotion across the school.
Brainstorm Productions recently visited the school to deliver Verbal Combat, an educational theatre performance for our Year 8 Drama students. The performance provided students with practical strategies for building resilience, preventing bullying and seeking help when needed.
A select group of Year 10 students have been taking part in the DPV – Let’s Talk Respect program, exploring healthy relationships, respect and positive choices. Students have been working collaboratively on a project and will soon celebrate their achievements at a graduation ceremony.
Raise Mentoring continues throughout the term for a group of Year 8 students. Through the program, students work with a mentor to explore a range of topics, including developing confidence, knowing how and who to ask for help, building resilience, strengthening connections with school, family and friends, managing stress, and developing hope for the future.
Another small-group program has also been running with our Year 7 and 8 students, focusing on building positive social skills, effective communication and friendships, as well as developing strategies for navigating different social situations.
We look forward to acknowledging and celebrating Bullying No Way Week in Week 6 and R U OK? Day in Week 9 as we continue to strengthen a culture of connection, respect and wellbeing across our school community.
