CULTURE, CONNECTION AND COMMUNITY

“In recognition of NAIDOC Week 2026 – 50 Years of Deadly, our college celebrated throughout the week with a range of activities that honoured the rich histories, cultures and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples while reflecting on the actions we can all take to advance reconciliation beyond NAIDOC Week.

The week culminated in a special celebration, where the MSC Koorie Group came together with Gaayip-Yagila Primary School Koorie group, Elder Perry Wandin, Aboriginal artist Tinika Clifford, staff, and community members to celebrate this significant milestone. Highlights included a Welcome to Country, Smoking Ceremony, the official unveiling of our new Aboriginal-designed building signage created by Tinika, cultural activities, storytelling, and opportunities for connection. It was a meaningful celebration of culture, community, and identity, while acknowledging the important role our young people will play in carrying this legacy forward for the next 50 years and beyond.”
