Mock Trial Competition

Both Mock Trial teams were in action on May 14 at the Supreme Court of Western Australia against Penrhos College in a criminal case involving perverting the course of justice.
Mazenod 1 had the task of defending the accused, an Uber driver who threatened a witness about an upcoming assault case, whilst Mazenod 2 had to prosecute the case. Significant work went into the preparation of the case from both teams, with Mazenod 1 clear winners on points. Mazenod 2 were able to prove beyond reasonable doubt the guilt of the accused, however, were beaten by half a point in the trial procedure. This is the barest of margins and all boys should be proud of the work that they put into preparing for the trials.
Congratulations to the boys on their efforts and our thanks go to Mrs Tonon, for her legal expertise in preparing the teams, and Mr Pallot for accompanying the teams to the trial.
