Ā Bridging Generations Through Italian Culture!

š¦Year 9 Visit to Mary's Mount PS
In Semester 1 2025, a talented group of 22 Year 9 students are continuing their journey of Language and Culture with enthusiasm and dedication to the study of Italian.
Ā
On Tuesday, 13 May, 9 of these dedicated students, were invited to participate at Mary's Mount Primary School for their annual āItalian Dayā celebration. It was a morning filled with language, music, dancing, piano accordions, smiles, and of courseā¦.pizza! Although it would have been a fantastic opportunity for all 22 students to attend, for this event, only a small group were required to help Signora Castro - the Italian teacher at Mary's Mount Primary School - as she immersed her school in the cultural experience.
The Mazenod students played a key role in the festivities during the opening assembly, beginning with a skit in Italian, playing out at a āPizzeriaā by 4 former students of Mary's Mount, followed by an interview, in Italian, to the 9 students, conducted by their teacher Prof Raschella. To conclude the assembly āMr Accordion Manā entertained the crowd with the Year 9 students demonstrating the moves required for the āTarantellaā dance to the primary students. Following the assembly, the Mazenod students continued their participation by serving up authentic Italian Wood-fired pizzaĀ to each of the primary students. Many of the primary students putting their Italian to the test ordering from the Mazenod students in Italian.
Ā
Their presence at this event wasn't just about having fun; it was also a great opportunity to represent our school and inspire younger students about the joys of learning languages and the opportunities and experiences that come with continuing the journey.
Ā
Congratulations to these students on being excellent ambassadors for Mazenod College. Their attendance and participation exemplified the spirit of Mazenod College by being positive role models in the community. They showed that language is more than just wordsāitās about building connections, sharing cultures, and creating lasting memories.
