YEAR 12 PSYCHOLOGY EXCURSION 

Body Worlds: Anatomy of Happiness 

On Thursday the 13th of August, Year 12 Psychology students attended the Bodyworlds: Anatomy of Happiness exhibition at the Docklands. 

As a part of the Unit 3 and Unit 4 Study Design, Psychology students explore the brain, Central and Peripheral Nervous Systems, the Gut-Brain Axis and the complex relationship between biological, psychological and social factors that influence mental-wellbeing and behaviour. 

Throughout this experience, students explored real human specimens, meticulously preserved through Gunther von Hagens' revolutionary plastination process, offering an unparalleled look inside the human form. This supported student’s understanding of anatomy and physiology, as they witnessed the impact of disease through stunning full body plastinates, intricate organs, and revealing transparent slices. 

Students thoroughly enjoyed this experience, and felt it not only was useful for Psychology, but also other subjects such as Health and Human Development and Physical Education.
