YEAR 12 ART MAKING AND EXHIBITING EXCURSION

A few weeks ago, our Year 12 Art Making & Exhibiting (AME) students enjoyed an excursion to Manyung Gallery in Mt Eliza. After a lovely stroll to the village, students were warmly welcomed by Bryon, the gallery curator.

Students spent an informative and engaging hour learning about the day-to-day operation of a gallery, with a particular focus on how a commercial gallery operates. They gained valuable insights into the roles and responsibilities involved in exhibiting and promoting artists and their work, as well as the practical considerations involved in running a successful gallery.

This firsthand experience has been particularly valuable for students as they continue developing their Arts Folios and prepare for their upcoming end-of-year VCE examination. Being able to experience a professional gallery environment and speak directly with a curator provided students with an authentic connection between their classroom learning and the professional art world.

Congratulations to the entire class on the way you represented our school. Your enthusiasm, interest and respectful behaviour throughout the excursion were wonderful to see. A fantastic day and a valuable learning experience for our AME students!
