BRINGING THE GREAT BARRIER REEF TO LIFE 

During Term 3, students in SHS embarked on a creative journey beneath the ocean’s surface, exploring the beauty of the Great Barrier Reef and learning about the devastating impact that global warming and climate change are having on coral reefs.

Students spent several months researching, designing and developing their own unique coral sculptures before bringing their ideas to life in clay. After carefully constructing their sculptures, the pieces were fired in the kiln, glazed and then fired again to create their vibrant final artworks.

The results are a wonderful collection of colourful and imaginative coral sculptures that not only celebrate the beauty of the reef, but also encourage us to think about the importance of protecting this precious environment.

A huge congratulations to all of the students for the enthusiasm, creativity and commitment they showed throughout the project. It has been fantastic to see their ideas develop from initial designs into completed artworks.
