Shrine of Remembrance

The Shrine of Remembrance is a significant monument that represents the millions of Australians and Aboriginal Australians who died or were killed in war. On the 27th of August, classes 9B and 9E got to go on an excursion to the Shrine. We had the chance to take a guided tour through the museum, the Sanctuary, the Eternal Flame, and the Galleries of Remembrance. The whole Shrine is based on historic events and people and its main purpose is to remember those who were lost and what happened during the war. We saw various artefacts, such as a boat used to transport soldiers to Gallipoli, a soldier's uniform, medals and many other important pieces. This excursion gave us a lot of knowledge and information about WWI, which we can use both for ourselves and in the humanities project we are currently working on.
