Beachside Track & Field

More than 50 Glen Eira students represented the school at the 2026 Beachside Division Track & Field Championships, with an outstanding team result of second place overall.

The day included several exceptional individual performances, with three new Beachside Division records: Austin Voges ran 52.52 seconds in the 17 Years 400m, Lucas Hijlkema cleared 1.91m in the 16 Years High Jump, and Sasha Dubin ran 13.36 seconds in the 12–13 Years 100m. All three were also crowned Age Group Champions, while Gaby Duieb was named the Girls 17 Years Age Group Champion.

A huge thank you to every student who competed and contributed across the day. The strong overall result reflected the depth of participation across the Glen Eira athletics team.

Year 8 WheelTalk

On Tuesday, our Year 8 students had the opportunity to experience wheelchair basketball as part of their PE program.

Students first heard from our instructor, Peter, about his experiences in life and inclusive sports, including wheelchair basketball, wheelchair AFL and powerlifting, before getting the opportunity to jump into a wheelchair and have a go at playing basketball themselves.

It was a fantastic opportunity for students to experience a sport from a different perspective. There were plenty of laughs, some impressive skills and lots of enthusiastic participation throughout the session!
