Deputy Principal Staff and Students Report

GRATITUDE

Our Term has started well and we have two major events that are the fruit of a lot of work over a long period of time. The College Musical Production of ‘You’re A Good Man Charlie Brown’ and our Careers Expo were a fantastic celebration for the community.

The College Musical Production was a huge success and the result of hours and hours of hard work, along with the generosity and courage of our wonderful students to share their God given talents and “let their light shine” (Matt 5:16). Of course there was great guidance and support from all the staff involved. The Musical Production adds so much life to our community, an opportunity for students to shine, connect with others, develop their talents and take a risk with other students supported by the community. I am so very grateful for this opportunity, for all the people involved and for being a part of a community that is able to offer and produce such a wonderful Production.

A special thanks to Em Beggs our Director, Tim Bland the Musical Director and our College Music and Drama staff Ms Taura, Mr Landid and Ms Alexander for their skill, generosity and generous sharing of their gifts and talents to make it such a success.

We also have great gratitude for all the Parents, Guardians, Carers and students who attended on Thursday night our Careers Expo and all the staff who planned this great night and manned the subject tables etc. It was a great night for our community, with students able to see the incredible amount of opportunities that they have before them as they look at life after school.

A special thank you to Elena Flodstrom, Theresa Lochery, Naomi Pernar, Willow Griffiths and Coreen Grimwood for all their efforts in planning and preparing for such a great night and to Ms Nailon, Ms Dekker and Ms Mackay for addressing our families. We are so blessed as a community and we give thanks to God that we have such a great community and opportunities.

CHILD SAFETY

One area of keeping our young people safe is education around road safety. We remind all Parents, Guardians and Carers of the need to be especially vigilant and driving safe around the College car park and also work with us reminding students to use the school crossing and lights when crossing roads near the school on their way to and from school.

STAFF AND PARENT COMMUNICATION

Our staff are aware of the great privilege it is to share the mission of educating your children and supporting you as the primary educators of your children. From time to time, there may be issues at home in your family or of a health or wellbeing nature that may impact students and their academic performance and or overall wellbeing. We desire to support all of our students to the very best of our ability. Please do not hesitate to contact us via email or phone or even make a time to meet in person if there is some information that if shared will benefit your child in their education and wellbeing, or if you have any questions we could clarify for you. We desire to support you and work together and our staff are regularly in contact with families. Please do not hesitate to reach out and contact us if it may assist your child.

MIDDLE OF TERM

It is a challenge to believe that we are already well and truly into August and moving to the middle part of Term 3, 2026. It is a time for students to persevere, keep pushing and working hard and to place within their regular study routine some retrieval practise to assist them to develop this practise and skill, and also to help them to be ready for assessments and exams later in the year. We encourage Parents, Guardians and Carers to work with your child(ren) to support them in developing good revision practises. In fact the students teaching you or you quizzing them on different key areas is a very effective form of study. Your support will be great for your child’s learning and also help draw you closer to them.

God Bless
