VCE Year 12: Entering the Home Straight

The year is moving quickly, and our Year 12 students have now completed approximately three-quarters of their formal teaching program for VCE Units 3 and 4. Classroom teaching will conclude at the end of this term, allowing students to focus on the compulsory Trial Examinations and the intensive examination preparation and revision program in Term 4.

At the same time, many students are celebrating important personal milestones, including obtaining their driver's licence and reaching adulthood. While these are exciting achievements, it is important that students remain focused on maintaining their physical and emotional wellbeing, as both have a significant impact on learning, study habits and examination performance.

As students prepare for the final stages of their VCE journey, we encourage them to:

Prioritise a good night's sleep. Around eight hours of sleep each night helps refresh both mind and body.
Establish healthy routines that align with examination times. VCE examinations are typically scheduled between 9.00am and 5.15pm, so students should aim to be alert and productive during these hours.
Maintain a balanced diet, including fresh and nutritious foods, while limiting excessive sugar and caffeine intake. Staying well hydrated is equally important.
Create a quiet and distraction-free study environment. Remember that examination settings do not include music, mobile phones, television or internet access.
Use computers and other electronic devices purposefully and only when they support learning and study.
Attend school every day whenever possible and provide appropriate medical documentation when absent.

The final months of Year 12 can be both rewarding and challenging. Consistent effort, healthy habits and a balanced approach to study will help students maximise their success and confidently approach their final assessments.

Course Guides can be accessed from the top section of the page by selecting the relevant year level. Families are also encouraged to explore the Learning Area sections, where subject pathway Flowcharts provide valuable information about subject progression and future study options. Information about Year 10 and VCE subjects is also available in this section.

The Subject Selection Portal opens on Monday 3 August and closes on Monday 10 August. Signed subject selection forms must be returned to Pastoral Teachers by Thursday 13 August.

We encourage students and families to carefully consider future pathways and make use of the resources available to support informed subject choices.
