🚀VET Spectacular Inspires Future Pathways

On Wednesday 29 July, Nazareth College proudly hosted its annual VET Spectacular, providing our Year 9 and Year 10 students with an exciting opportunity to explore the many vocational pathways available to them, offered here at Nazareth.

The event showcased 16 Vocational Education and Training (VET) courses, highlighting the diverse range of industry areas students can pursue while completing their secondary education. Students had the opportunity to visit interactive displays, speak with teachers and current VET students, view practical demonstrations, and gain valuable insight into the skills and experiences offered through each program.

From Building and Construction, Plumbing and Electrotechnology to Allied Health, Early Childhood Education, Sport and Recreation, Music, Dance, Hospitality, Business, Information Technology, and many more, the VET Spectacular demonstrated the breadth of opportunities available to students with a wide range of interests and career aspirations. These courses  are available to our current Year 9 students to select as part of their LEAP program or to choose as an accelerated subject.  The current Year 10 students have the option of selecting an external VET course at institutions such as Swinburne, Chisholm, Holmesglen and many more. The options for VET courses are therefore broader for Year 11 and 12 students to choose from. 

📌PLEASE NOTE that if you are choosing to follow a LEAP or VCE VM pathway, a VET subject is a compulsory part of the program. VCE students can select to undertake a VET subject as one of their VCE subjects. Students unsure as to whether they are entering the VCE or VCE VM program are encouraged to select a VET course to keep options open to them.

The feedback from students was overwhelmingly positive, with many Years 9 and Year 10 students describing the day as both exciting and informative. The interactive nature of the event enabled students to ask questions, experience hands-on activities, and begin thinking about how VET can support their future career goals while complementing their senior secondary studies.

This event assists students make informed subject selections by connecting classroom learning with real-world industries and career pathways. We are proud to offer such a comprehensive range of VET opportunities at Nazareth College and love witnessing many of our students pursuing these vocational pathways.
