Year 8 Still Life Contour Drawing with Pattern

Students learnt how to draw from observation focusing on contour lines. They then applied complex patterns using a limit of two colours plus black.

Year 9 Photorealism Drawings

The Year 9 Art students have explored the concept of photorealism using graphite pencils. This task focused on developing each student’s skills in manipulating tone, proportion and scale.  The students applied the ‘Grid Transfer’ technique to masterfully render a photograph into a pencil drawing.

Year 9 Drink Label

Students investigated how designers glamourise products in order to attract the consumer’s attention. They applied this knowledge to create a label to promote their new drink. Students used manual drawing techniques using various different media to create their final design.

Top Arts Exhibition 2025

Congratulations to former GEC students Josie and Audrey whose artworks are on display as part of the Top Arts Exhibition at NGV Australia, together with artwork from class of 2024 student Eden. 

The annual Top Arts exhibition provides a platform for emerging artists from across the state to showcase their skills, enthusiasm, and creativity. The exhibition highlights the increasingly innovative use of materials and techniques employed by students who completed the VCE studies of Art Making and Exhibiting and Art Creative Practice in 2024.
