TAC Excursion

In term 1, our class went to the Melbourne Museum to visit the TAC (road to zero) exhibition.
We were accompanied by a guide who led us through the exhibit and workshop.
There was a room in the exhibition full of interactive games and experiences that were all to do with road safety and the TAC objectives which are; safer people, roads, speeds and vehicles. Some of the activities included a VR headset to show us firsthand the evolution of vehicles and what our body would have to look like in order to survive a car crash.
After we had completed the exhibition and immersive activities we progressed onto the educational workshops.
This is where we had a group discussion about popular marketing tactics the TAC uses in their advertisement campaigns and how we would apply these to create our own advertisements. We were each put into groups and given the challenge to create our own advertisements. We created our adverts on touchscreen tables with pre-recorded footage which we cut and chose from. First off we had to choose a premise for our advertisement, we chose ‘being aware of your surroundings whilst crossing roads’. The TAC is well known for creating catchy taglines that encapsulate the message of the advert/campaign. Our teacher decided that the group with the best tagline would win a prize. Our tagline won the best of the day, which was, ‘Being in a hurry can cost you more than a detention’.
