Alumni Author Spotlight!

We are excited to share that alum Corey Tusak, (peer year 2022), has recently published his debut novel, Hylenia: The Great Prophecy, through the international publishing company, Austin Macauley.

Corey’s passion for writing has stemmed from his school years, drawing inspiration from his diverse travels across the globe. His experiences have shaped the compelling storytelling in his young adult fantasy novel.

Corey has generously donated a copy of Hylenia: The Great Prophecy to our school library, allowing both students and staff to explore his creation. Be sure to check it out!

For a sneak peek, here's the blurb:

Hylenia: The Great Prophecy is a coming-of-age story centred around fantasy elements. The novel focuses on a young protagonist (Austin Bolden) moving to a magical school, where he joins an investigative club that reveals mysteries and long-kept secrets. With strong themes of identity, destiny, heroism, and war, Hylenia: The Great Prophecy is a whirlwind of self-discovery. As the magical world goes through a new stage of war and corruption, Austin has to navigate where he stands among it all.

The story follows Austin’s travels as the threat of the great prophecy grows.

Hylenia, hidden deep within the Bermuda Triangle from human civilization, is a place where myths and ghost stories come to life and now, they’re hunting Austin and his friends.

As Austin moves for his sophomore year, he’s forced to juggle high school life with the growing threat of the prophecy’s unfolding.

It is rumoured that a secret organization may be pulling the strings behind these disappearances and forcing fate to bring the prophecy to life.

As Austin settles into his new school, he quickly realizes it's not just the usual high school drama he has to navigate. He begins to suspect that some of his classmates aren’t who they claim to be. Could members of this secret organization be keeping tabs on him in school?

It begs the question: who can Austin trust?
