French Film Festival

The French Film Festival is back and this year again some of our students had the opportunity to go to the Como in South Yarra to watch a French movie.

140 year 7 and 8 students watched the French Canadian movie All Stirred Up about a girl who enters a food competition and rallies a whole community behind her. Year 9 immersion and CNED students as well as our senior French students watched the movie Le Comte de Monte Cristo based on the classic novel by Alexandre Dumas. Students really enjoyed this special day and the opportunity to watch a French movie with their friends!

French Club

The French club is happening every Thursday in 208 and is run by our amazing Junior French Captains Violet Petrie (8C), Kiara Makhijani (8C) and Cici Cao (8B). Students play games, do quizzes, share French food as well as their love of French!

In our French classes

In class, year 7 French students learned about the diversity of the French-speaking world and created a poster about a francophone country. Bravo les année 7 pour vos creations!

Year 9 French

Throughout Term 1, Year 9 French students have focused on developing their understanding of the French passé composé (past perfect) tense. This has involved learning conjugation patterns for verb endings for a variety of actions. For their first assessment, they demonstrated this learning by incorporating the tense in a visual poem describing a past event. This enabled them to demonstrate their grammatical understanding, whilst also providing a creative outlet. Here are some exemplars of the work they were able to produce in class and under test conditions.

Year 7 CNED

In their first unit of study, the year 7 CNED students explored the literary genre of poetry and learned about various types of poetic expression. For their CAT, they wrote a series of haikus dealing with nature, emotions and nostalgia based on 6 paintings for inspiration. The examples below are some excellent examples of their work.
