Frankston High School Eco Team students would like the Frankston High School community to know about some exciting news!

For the first time in modern history it’s been found that global wind and solar power generated more electricity than coal in early 2025, according to Ember Energy Research. Driven mainly by China and India, renewables saw rising global demand, ultimately minimising the use of fossil fuels. And even more excitingly the International Energy Agency reported that global renewables could more than double by the end of the decade – only five years from now! And further to this, Australia currently holds the record for the biggest amount of roof top solar generation globally – well over four million rooftops and counting (with Frankston High School 7-10 Campus soon to be included)! Given there is estimated to be over 11 million houses across Australia, this means about a third have solar.

Whilst there is still a lot of work to do, this demonstrates that the renewable energy transition is inevitable and almost unstoppable at this point. Fantastic news for anyone who likes the idea of a better and fairer future.

And for anyone who might currently be considering a rooftop solar/battery system, keep in mind the government battery rebate of $3000 is currently available.
