MIDDLE SCHOOL | Update

Dear Parents/Carers and Students
Term 4 is a busy and significant time as students prepare for exams and transition into early commencement. It’s an opportunity to recognise growth, celebrate success, and look forward to the exciting opportunities ahead. Guided by our values of Respect, Responsibility, Resilience, and Empathy, we remain focused on strong learning routines and supporting every student to achieve their best.
Middle School Semester 2 Exams
All Year 9 and 10 students are required to participate in Semester 2 exams for English, Maths and Science in Week 8, on Tuesday 25 November and Wednesday 26 November.
Students will only be required to attend school for their exams as per the below schedule
Exam sessions and room locations will also appear on Compass in the lead up to the exams.
Year 10 students studying a Year 11 VCE subject will need to check the Year 11 exam schedule also.
At home, students can be supported by implementing the following recommendations:
Providing a quiet study space at home free from distractions
Encouraging your child to eat well and get plenty of sleep
Encouraging students to limit social engagements around exam time, including their use of social media. Students should focus solely on their studies, without distraction from social media.
Students will participate in an exam information session prior to exams to go over all important information and PowerPoint resources from these sessions can be provided to parents/carers via compass.
Year 9 City Perspectives Experience
We are excited for our upcoming Year 9 City Perspectives program! Over the coming weeks, students will plan and then spend a full day exploring Melbourne through a chosen theme such as Tourism, Sport, Culture, History, Fashion, the Future, or Law & Order. The experience builds independence, teamwork, and confidence while encouraging students to see the city in new ways.
Key details:
Planning: Weeks 1–3 (students must complete a planning booklet)
City Day: Week 4 (each Optima class will have a designated day)
Showcase: Week 5 (creative group submission)
Consent: Please provide consent via Compass by Thursday 23 October.
We look forward to a safe and memorable experience for all Year 9 students!
Early Commencement
Students will begin their transition to the next year level from Monday 1 December. Early Commencement concludes on Friday 12 December for Years 8–10, and on Friday 5 December for Years 11 and 12.
All students are expected to attend Early Commencement classes to ensure a smooth start to the new school year.
