Spotlight on Learning
Foundation - Galilee Community
Dear Families,
Our students continue to build on the strong foundations set in Term 1. It has been fantastic to see them demonstrating respectful behaviour, working cooperatively with others, and approaching their learning with confidence and curiosity. We are very proud of the way students are settling into classroom routines and showing enthusiasm across all learning areas. It has also been wonderful to see students growing in independence and developing positive friendships within the classroom and during play times.
We would also like to extend a sincere thank you to all mothers and special people who attended our Mother’s Day Morning Tea. It was wonderful to see so many special people celebrating with our students, and the children loved sharing this special occasion with you.

Religious Education:
Next week in Religious Education, students will be learning that plants are part of God’s creation and provide us with food. Students will explore different types of plants, learn how some plants become the food we eat, and discuss ways we can care for and protect plants in our environment. Through discussions and hands-on activities, students will continue to develop an appreciation for God’s creation and the importance of caring for the world around us.

English:
Next week we will be continuing our reading of 'What’s Cooking in 10 Garden Street?' by Felicita Sala. This beautifully illustrated story takes us through an apartment building, where each family is busy preparing a different meal from around the world. From dumplings to pasta, every kitchen is filled with delicious smells and special traditions. The story celebrates culture, family, and the joy of sharing food with others.
During explicit phonics instructions, we will reviewing all sounds From Little learners Love Literacy, stage 3. This includes /y/, /r/, /e/, /qu/ and /z/.
We introduce sounds based on the Little Learners Love Literacy book 'Milo's Birthday Surprise'.

Mathematics:
Next week in Mathematics, students will be learning to represent numbers to 20 on a number track. They will practise identifying missing numbers and building confidence when counting forwards and backwards to 20. Students will also be learning to compare and order numerals to 20, using a range of hands-on activities and games to strengthen their understanding of number order and sequencing.

Integrated Curriculum:
Next week in Integrated, students will be learning about where Cranbourne East is and exploring places that are important to them and their families. Students will identify and discuss different places within Cranbourne East and begin to make connections between their community and their own experiences. Through class discussions and activities, students will also share and describe places that are special or meaningful to their families.
