Catholic Education Week
Our staff cocreated this beautiful prayer for Catholic Education Week,
Staff Professional Learning
Staff spent time looking closely at what each passage meant in its original context, who wrote it, and the purpose behind the writing. They then worked together to consider what children might wonder about these stories, the questions they might ask, and the ways Mary’s example can help them connect faith to their own lives.
This shared learning strengthens the Catholic identity of our school and supports the way we speak about faith with students every day.
At home you might like to chat about Mary too. Families could talk about the moments in the Bible where Mary appears, the way she supported Jesus, and how her courage and kindness still inspire people today. Children often wonder about what Mary was like as a young woman, how she felt when God called her, or how she stayed so close to Jesus. These simple conversations help children connect faith with everyday life and see Mary as someone who understands love, trust and family.
Masses this week
We were blessed to gather on Wednesday as Damascus and Galilee for our Lady of Fatima Mass this week. Our Year Two students were wonderful in their reading and singing, bringing confidence and reverence to the celebration. Our Foundation children were very quick to answer Father’s questions and showed such enthusiasm and joy throughout the liturgy. It was beautiful to see our youngest learners so engaged and our year twos leading with such care. Moments like these remind us how deeply faith, community and learning come together in our school.
Feast of Saint Mattius
We gathered this week to celebrate the Feast of Saint Matthias, and it was a joyful and prayerful occasion for our school community. Our Year Five and Six students were wonderful in their reading and singing, bringing confidence and reverence to the Mass. Our children were very quick to answer Father’s questions and showed such enthusiasm and curiosity throughout the celebration. It was a delight to see their bright faces and hear their thoughtful responses. Moments like these remind us how deeply our students engage with faith, story and community, and how proud we are of the way they participate so openly and joyfully. Father even asked for a round of applause for their contributions!
