Level 2

Mt Evelyn Day Camp
On Monday the 15th of June, our Terrific Twos headed off for a day of adventure at Mount Evelyn Discovery Camp!
The day was filled with exciting new experiences, including hut building, damper making, tackling the low ropes course and getting up close and personal to wildlife!
We were so proud of how the Grade 2 students stepped outside their comfort zones, embracing challenges and giving everything a go with a big smile on their faces!
Ancient China
Our Year 2 students also enjoyed a special celebration activity this week to conclude their Ancient China Humanities unit. They participated in their very own Chinese character writing class, using traditional ink to learn and practise a range of Chinese symbols and discover their meanings. Students have been highly engaged throughout the unit and have thoroughly enjoyed exploring this fascinating period of history.
Student Voice
Our Year 2 team recently came together for their Planning Day, focusing on future learning opportunities and ways to further engage our students. A highlight of the day was welcoming our Student Voice Leaders (SVLs), who joined part of the meeting to share valuable feedback on their learning experiences and represent the perspectives of their classmates.
The students spoke enthusiastically about their learning, particularly our Humanities unit on Ancient China. They shared how much they have enjoyed exploring ancient cultures, learning about Chinese language and traditions, and practising Chinese calligraphy. Students also highlighted their love of using whiteboards during lessons, explaining that they enjoy being able to take risks, make mistakes, and easily correct their work as they learn.
Our SVLs also provided thoughtful suggestions for future learning. Many expressed an interest in more research-based projects and inquiry tasks, with topics such as space, dinosaurs, and wildlife generating plenty of excitement. Finally, the students were unanimous in one very important request – another end-of-year class celebration! They are already looking forward to the opportunity to celebrate their achievements and enjoy time with their classmates.
We are incredibly proud of our students for sharing their ideas so confidently and thoughtfully. Their feedback plays an important role in helping us create engaging and meaningful learning experiences for all Year 2 students.
