MPS Buddies 2026

Each year, we welcome new students who start their schooling at MPS. These are the Preps. Since the Preps are new and may not understand how our school  works, preps are buddied up with 5/6s who are there to help them. Imagine having a great time with your awesome, adorable and amazing buddies, sounds exciting right!? On Wednesday, the 17th of June,  the Preps and 5-6 students got together. We read to each other (the preps showed off what they have been learning in class), did some mindful colouring and the best part, got to know each other. This helps to make our school a better place for everyone. It was terrific!!!!

Courage to Care Incursion

On the 18th of June, all of the 5/6s had a wonderful incursion called Courage to Care. They taught us about racism, prejudice, discrimination and stereotypes, and that we should respect people’s opinions and not bully people for it. We learned that a little thought can go a long way and be life changing, and that everyone has their own opinions and they should be respected. Eric shared a true story about his family during the Holocaust, including a nanny who saved 27 Jews. The biggest learning for us all was to be an Upstander in life, and it was an amazing experience enjoyed by all of the 5/6s.

Winter Sports

In the last couple of weeks, Interschool sports have been amazing. Except for lawn bowls, we went to other schools. The games were played fairly with great teamwork. In soccer, there were three teams, one girls team and two boys teams from MPS, and each team played six matches. One of the boys teams placed 3rd in soccer. In footy, the teams played six matches over two days with great sportsmanship and teamwork, and everyone tried their best and had so much fun. The boys netball teams played well and got second place in the competition, beating seven other schools. Lawn bowling was played at Mitcham in mixed teams, and Mitcham won 3 out of 6 games.

Interschool sports helped us represent our school, build teamwork, and enjoy friendly competition with other students. It was lots of fun!
