EMR Track and Field Carnival
On Monday 13 October, 21 talented Koonung Secondary College students proudly represented our school at the Eastern Metropolitan Region Track and Field Carnival, held at the Knox Athletics Track.
Following their success at the Whitehorse Division Carnival, our students competed strongly against some of the best athletes from across the region. The competition was fierce, but our Koonung students rose to the occasion, showing outstanding determination, teamwork and sportsmanship throughout the day. There were many impressive results across both track and field events, with students achieving personal bests, podium finishes, and valuable experience competing at this high level. Equally inspiring was the way our team supported one another between events, embodying the Koonung spirit of encouragement, pride and perseverance.
A special congratulations to Ryan Brennan (Year 8), Izzy Johnstone (Year 10), and Ellie Dyason (Year 10) who placed first in the 100m hurdles, second in the 1500m and second in 800m respectively, and qualified for the State Championships held at Lakeside Stadium on Monday 20 October.
We are extremely proud of our 21 regional representatives for their commitment, effort and contribution to another successful athletics season for Koonung Secondary College.

Whitehorse Division Athletics Carnival
On Wednesday 10 September, over 100 enthusiastic Koonung students represented our school at the Whitehorse Division Athletics Carnival, held at the Doncaster Athletics Track. The day was filled with energy, teamwork and outstanding performances across track and field events. Our students demonstrated determination and resilience as they competed in a wide range of disciplines including sprints, middle distance runs, relays, hurdles, jumps and throws.
Koonung students achieved fantastic results with many securing first, second and third placings across a variety of events (listed below). The students who placed first also qualified for the Eastern Metropolitan Region Carnival held on Monday 13 October at the Knox Athletics Track. Beyond the results, it was inspiring to see students supporting each other, cheering on their peers, and proudly representing our school values of Excellence, Endeavour, Collaboration and Resilience on the day.
A big thank you to all students and to the staff who attended the day; our students should be proud of their efforts. We look forward to following the progress of those who have qualified for the Eastern Metropolitan Region Carnival.
