Principal Report

Congratulations Year 12

November is the time we say both farewell and good luck to our graduating class of Year 12 students. We wish them all the best during the current VCE exam period, and also wish them all the best in their future endeavours. As they finished classes this term, they demonstrated and modelled to the rest of our school community maturity, determination and an overwhelming excited anticipation for their futures. Koonung has developed outstanding traditions in acknowledging the achievements of our Year 12 students as they finish school, including a graduation breakfast with students and families, followed by their final Assembly and culminating in the Graduation Dinner.

This year's cohort of graduates are hardworking, determined, creative and critical thinkers, but most importantly, they are kind, caring and compassionate towards their peers, staff and other students. They are everything we want in our young people.

We wish them all the best in both the upcoming exams, and wherever life takes them. they will make us, the College and their families proud.

Interschool Debating

Koonung students in Years 7 and 8 have been involved in the Debating Association of Victoria Junior School Debating competition. This year we entered 6 teams and have over 25 students participate in the interschool competitions. This has seen team competing in the on-line statewide competition and in the face to face debating in the Doncaster region.

A big thank you to our Debating Coach, past student (College Vice Captain in 2023) Mary Elyas, for working with our students and building both confidence in public speaking skills and depth in arguments for each of our debates.

Subject Selection and Program Planning for 2026

All students have received their subjects and programs for 2026. We thank all students, parents and families, our Careers team and all staff involved in Course selection and counselling for their efforts and work over the past few months.

Course planning and subject selection are the cornerstone of engagement and success. Here at Koonung we run a student choice curriculum- that is we run the subjects and programs that are selected by students during our course counselling process. As a large school, we can generally accommodate all student selections, but there are still clashes that occur. If there are any clashes or concerns with your child's program in 2026, please contact either Mr Darren Marsh or Ms Mary Eade at the College on 9890 9662 or organise for your child to see Mr Marsh about options.

Building Works Update

There is much happening in the College at the moment around Capital Works. The extension work to our Middle Years building is progressing well. Thanks to a period of favourable weather, the concrete slab has been poured, and the steel framing is going up. the project is still due for completion in July 2026.
