KLA Feature - English

Term 3 is a time of consolidation in English.

Year 7 is now familiar with the study of English at high school
Year 8 is working towards the end of their Stage 4 study
Year 9 is taking their Stage 4 skills into Stage 5 learning
Year 10 has had their first exam experience and is preparing for the second exam block in Term 4
Year 11 has spent three terms becoming familiar with Stage 6 English and developing their skills in preparation for the start of Year 12 in Term 4
Year 12 has their Trial Exams behind them and is now focused on revision areas needed to prepare for their HSC Exams

No matter what year students are in, Terms 3 & 4 are important terms for students to build on their English knowledge and skills. Students are encouraged to speak with their teacher if there are areas that of their English study that still challenge or puzzle them. Additionally, feedback and feed forward are key for students to grow and build on their Semester 1 performances and prepare for English in 2027. Parents are encouraged to chat with your daughter about what they are doing in English.

We are very proud of Diya Vinoth Kumar of Year 7 who is a shortlisted finalist in the 2026 Whitlam Institute ‘What Matters? Competition’. Diya’s discursive writing is very thoughtful and has been beautifully crafted. You can read her composition titled ‘The world that went missing’ here.

Year 12 students head to their HSC exams in October with some important events to support them. In the April holiday workshop students were given insight into the marking of a particular section of their exam by a HSC marker. This week girls in the Advanced and Standard courses received their Trial Exam marks and were taken through feedback presentations from the markers of each section. This is valuable information to guide students on how best to revise and approach their English modules and texts. Year 12 is encouraged to consult closely with their teacher as they revise and undertake practice questions over the remainder of this term.
