Literacy Dress Up Day: “A Symphony of Stories”

What a wonderful day of creativity, imagination and fun we enjoyed for our Literacy Dress Up Day! This year’s theme, “Symphony of Stories,” came to life beautifully as students and staff embraced the opportunity to dress as characters from their favourite books.

It was fantastic to see such a diverse range of characters across the College, with students drawing inspiration from a wide variety of literary genres and stories. From much-loved classics to contemporary favourites, the creativity, enthusiasm and imagination displayed by our students and staff made the day a wonderful celebration of literature and the joy of reading.

The Year Assemblies were a particular highlight, with students proudly taking part in costume parades and celebrating the creativity of their peers. There was certainly plenty of laughter, excitement and school spirit throughout the day.

Congratulations to all students who participated in the lunchtime parade, and a special congratulations to those who were recognised for Best Individual Costume and Best Group Costume in each year group. Your creativity and effort were fantastic!

A sincere thank you also to our staff who joined in the fun and embraced the spirit of the day. Literacy Dress Up Day was a wonderful celebration of reading, imagination and the stories that inspire us.

Rotary Youth Vocational Education Awards

On Tuesday evening, some of our students had the opportunity to attend the Rotary Youth Vocational Education Awards at Northmead Creative and Performing Arts High School, celebrating the achievements of young people undertaking vocational education and training.

We are delighted to congratulate the following students who were recognised with awards:

Business Services -  Caitlin Medak

Construction - Imogen Norwood

Entertainment - Valentina Buda

Hospitality - Taylah Hosking

Primary Industries - Cassandra Hader

Their commitment, effort and achievement in their vocational studies are a wonderful reflection of their dedication to developing valuable skills and preparing for their future pathways.

Congratulations to all of our award recipients! We are very proud of your achievements and the way you have embraced the opportunities provided through vocational education.

We would also like to sincerely thank all of the staff who work with and support these students in their vocational classes. Your guidance, encouragement and commitment play an important role in helping our students develop their skills, confidence and knowledge for life beyond school.

We congratulate all students who participated in the evening and thank Rotary for continuing to recognise and support the achievements of young people in vocational education.

Early Departure Procedures

We have recently seen an increase in students leaving the College early, particularly on Thursday afternoons. While we understand that appointments, family commitments and other circumstances may occasionally require students to leave early, it is important that all early departures follow our established procedures to ensure student safety, accountability and the smooth transition of students throughout the school day.

To support this process, we ask families and students to please ensure that:

• All planned early departures are organised before the school day, with appropriate parent/carer communication recorded in the student diary. The note should clearly state the reason for departure, time of departure and who will be collecting the student.
• Students must have their diary note signed by their Homeroom Teacher or Year Leader on the morning of their departure.
• The signed diary note provides permission for the student to leave class and should be presented to their classroom teacher at the appropriate time.

When diary notes have not been completed, or when family members arrive without prior notice or pre-arranged communication, the collection process can be significantly delayed. This can be particularly challenging when families are trying to attend scheduled appointments. It also places additional pressure on College systems and staff, including the runner, who may be required elsewhere across the College to attend to urgent student or operational matters.

If a student becomes unwell during the school day, they should follow the usual procedure. Their classroom teacher should sign their diary before they present to Student Services. Office staff will then contact the parent/carer to arrange for the student to be collected from school. 

We greatly appreciate your support in ensuring these procedures are consistently followed. By working together and adhering to our established protocols, we can ensure that student departures are managed safely, efficiently and with minimal disruption to teaching, learning and sporting commitments.
