Pathways
This week’s latest Lunch & Learn was one to remember as we welcomed experienced Paramedic Maggie Sanger (Mum of Grace, Year 12) and soon-to-graduate paramedic and CCC alumna Jorja Tabor (Class of 2023), who shared their passion, pathways and experiences with an enthusiastic Years 7–12 audience. From pathways into paramedicine and a typical day on the job, to the importance of compassion, teamwork and supporting vulnerable members of our community, students asked thoughtful questions and were inspired by the meaningful difference these two professionals make every day. A huge thank you to Maggie and Jorja for generously sharing their time, insights and passion with our students - this was a wonderful example of partnering with families and alumni! Last week, we were honoured to welcome colleagues from across Catholic Schools Parramatta Diocese to Caroline Chisholm College for the Careers and Pathways Network Meeting, with our Years 10–12 students playing starring roles as ambassadors for the College. Taylah (Year 12), Jacinta, Emerie, Cassie, Chloe (Year 11) and Keya (Year 10) confidently shared their first-hand experiences of our careers programs, partnerships, workplace learning and pathway opportunities, before joining guests on a tour of our Careers and Pathways spaces. Their professionalism, enthusiasm and genuine pride in their College community made a lasting impression with our guests, showcasing the confidence and opportunities that are helping our students explore and shape their futures. Similarly, we were also proudly supported by a talented team of Year 12 Hospitality baristas from Year 12 (Jemma, Te, Fatima and Lily) alongside their teacher, Mrs Blundell, providing industry-quality food and beverages at the recess break!
Year 9 student Isabella recently completed a highly meaningful week of work experience at Jarara Cultural Centre, following a coaching conversation with our Pathways team that identified her strong interest in a future career in social and youth work. Thanks to Aunty Julie Waddell and the Jarara team, Isabella experienced a tailored program that provided valuable insight into cultural education, community engagement and the diverse work of the Centre - helping her see how her passion could translate into a future career pathway. Our next generation of WSU Fast Forward students have officially launched their exciting four-year journey with Western Sydney University, joining Year 9 Leader of Learning, Ms Weaire and students from across the region, at the picturesque Hawkesbury Campus as “change agents in training”. Through teamwork, problem-solving and a sustainability-focused campus challenge, our Year 9s explored their strengths, transferable skills and future pathways - setting the scene for four years of discovering, connecting, collaborating and Fast Forwarding their futures! Thank you to CCC Alumni Ana Setiu Tuala and WSU’s Future Student Engagement Team for this invaluable initiative.
