Gippsland Senior and Year 7 Girls Netball
Our two netball teams had a red hot go at the region’s finals, at the Traralgon Indoor Sports Stadium last Thursday 7th August. It was a robust competition that truly tested both teams, giving them the opportunity to push their game play and skills on the day. It was not the result we wanted, with just 1 win to the Seniors out of 3 games and no wins for the Year 7 students. We found plenty of positives through the day, as it is important our sports teams get the opportunity to compete at higher levels of competition, for the growth in the student’s resilience is quite outstanding.
East Gippsland Athletics
50 of our College's fittest athletes turned up the heat at the District Athletics competition on Wednesday 13th August. We witnessed the students giving 100% effort throughout the day, resulting in plenty of top 3 placings along with personal bests. For those who qualified for regional competition, keep up the training as it will be on Tuesday 9th September. Congratulations on a fantastic day’s competition - your contribution to the College’s sports calendar is greatly appreciated by us all.
Gippsland Senior Girls Basketball
There were 3 tight games against Lowanna, Bass Coast and Maffra for our senior team, which took place Thursday 14th August at the Traralgon Stadium. With a one-point loss in our first game, our girls shone brightly during the competition, giving themselves plenty of opportunities to take a victory. Unfortunately, we returned without a win for day. This crew knows how to make the best of any situation and had a good laugh along the way to finish on a high. Top effort BSC.
State Senior Table Tennis Championships
It was a big day for our Senior Table Tennis team and staff that travelled to MSAC – Albert Park on Wednesday 13th August. Playing in three pool games, the team of Ashley, Zaylen, Kaden and Mitchell were challenged by the state’s best immediately. Undoubtably we were ecstatic winning one set for the day, even posing for a photo to mark the occasion. The team were filled with pride when they were awarded the Spirit of Sport award for the day, which is voted on by there peers. It makes a long day all worth it when our students are recognised for being great humans when representing our College.
Once again, the representative sports department would like to thank the many staff who make all these events and excursions possible. The students and their families share lots of positive feedback regularly to us, which is very encouraging. Thank you.
