Principal's Message

Hello everyone,
Each day I walk around our College, I am incredibly proud of all the amazing things happening here.
This week, we’ve had some wonderful news stories celebrating our students’ achievements:
- Ash has secured an SBAT (School Based Apprenticeship and Training) position with Reece’s Plumbing.
- Tyler will be starting a taster year with the Australian Defence Force (ADF). He is the first BSC student to access this program!
- Ashley, Zaylen, Kaden, and Mitchell were awarded the Spirit of Sport Award at the State Senior Table Tennis Championships.
These are just a few examples of the fantastic accomplishments our students are achieving every day.
ICAS
Over the last couple of weeks, many of our students have participated in the ICAS tests. Congratulations to all who took part! We understand these tests add to your workload, and you approached them with great enthusiasm. ICAS provides a valuable opportunity for students to identify their strengths and areas for growth, while also building confidence in sitting exams under test conditions.
100 days until graduation!
It’s hard to believe our Year 12 students now have only 100 days until graduation! We celebrated this milestone this week with a dress-up day. Year 12 students have also been engaging in one-on-one pathway discussions with senior hub staff to explore their plans for next year.
If you have any questions about what life after secondary school looks like for your student, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
Teach Tomorrow Program
On Friday 1st August, I had the honour of attending the launch of the Undergraduate Employment-Based Teacher Education Program at The Academy. We are proud to share that three of our staff members—Josie, Mitch, and Megan—are participating in this program, which will ultimately provide them with a fully funded Bachelor of Education.
We are very excited for Josie, Mitch, and Megan on their acceptance into this program, and we are confident they will achieve great things.
Music Soirees
Congratulations to our Instrumental Music students and staff! Over three nights this week, students gave solo performances in front of family, friends, and peers—and it was truly amazing.
There were nerves, anticipation, and excitement, but regardless of how each performance went, I couldn’t be prouder of these students for getting up on stage on their own and giving their absolute best. Thank you all for a wonderful series of evenings. You will find more photos on the Instrumental Music page of this newsletter.
Thank you to our BSC Community for the support that you provide to our staff and students, it is truly appreciated. Our College is always buzzing with activity, and it’s great to see our students have the opportunity to engage in all the activities on offer, inside and outside the classroom.
Sincerely,
Tony Roberts
