Whole school assembly | Wednesday 20th August |
7P have settled in well to Semester Two. They are looking more confident around the school campus, both inside the classroom and out.
ENGLISH
During the first two weeks of the term, 7P wrapped up their poetry unit by composing their own poems in their chosen topics. Afterwards, the students moved onto a new unit on film analysis. They watched the movie “Paper Planes” and examined the characters, the plot and the conflicts that occurred in the movie. They are currently discussing its themes to help them understand its deeper meaning and message to the audience.
ART
In Art, 7P have begun experimenting with line and pattern through a series of optical art activities. They’ve explored how artists like Bridget Riley and Brett Whiteley use line to create movement, illusion, and expression, and are now developing their own final artworks using fine-liner pens.
MATHS
What we are learning - We are learning about basic algebraic rules on IN and OUT values.
Why we are learning - We can understand basic algebraic rules on IN and OUT values to understand patterns in a data.
PE/HEALTH
In Health, 7P have been learning all about puberty and the many changes that come with it. This topic has sparked some giggles and a few uncomfortable moments, but it's also led to meaningful conversations and a better understanding of how our bodies grow and develop during this time.
In PE we are working on invasion games. Students have participated in basketball lessons where we had a number of skilled players working to support those who find basketball more challenging. This week we are moving on to Ultimate Frisbee.
WOODWORK
In Woodwork 7P is currently working on constructing a pencil case. For their first task students need to demonstrate how to measure and mark on the wood block to be cut in half. They are also required to demonstrate how to measure and mark nail locations on side pieces.
