Principal's Report

Dear SEPS Families,
Staff News
Since our last newsletter, we farewelled Ms Nocera, who has started her family leave in preparation for the birth of her beautiful new little addition. I am pleased to welcome Ms Alana Walsh back to our staff. Some of you may remember Ms Walsh from her time here a few years back. At the end of last term Wendy Franks officially resigned her position as Business Manager since returning home to Canada. We wish Wendy all the best for her new life back home and will miss her dearly. Fortunately for us, Mr Dave Richardson, our Acting BM, has been successful in his application to become our substantive Business Manager. We are very lucky to have him!
State Principal Conference
Last Thursday and Friday, Mrs Gau and I attended the State Principal Conference at MCEC. We heard from our Minister of Education and some inspirational guest speakers, such as Lisa Alexander, the Australian Diamonds Netball coach, who spoke about sustaining excellence in leadership and collaboration. We were also privileged to hear from Dr Carl Hendrickon on leading evidence-informed practice in Victorian Schools. While attendance at these events takes us away from our work here at school, it also ensures we remain up to date with world leading research and educational initiatives. There is always more to learn, more to do and more to celebrate. It is reaffirming to know that we are on the right path here at SEPS. The work that our teachers are doing is at the forefront of educational excellence.
Coffee Van
We are very excited to announce that our famous Coffee Van is once again open for business. A very big thank you to Mr Klvac for the hours and hours he has spent on getting it all cleaned and back up and running. We now have almond milk available if that is your milk of choice, along with soy, oat and cow. Mr Klvac will be our Barista extraordinaire with a little help from some friends. If you pop in on a Wednesday, you will be delighted to see who has returned to make coffee for us. We are so excited to welcome Georgie back to SEPS. Please make sure you pop over and say hi … and buy a coffee or hot chocolate.
We hope you enjoy an extra-long weekend this weekend with Curriculum Day on Friday and the public holiday on Monday.
Jane Briffa
