Carlsruhe Annexe /

Main Campus - Year 4

Over the past two weeks, it has been wonderful to see how smoothly 4KR and 4AD have settled into their new learning spaces. 4AD has happily transitioned into their new classroom at the back of the school, next to the French room. Meanwhile, 4KR has embraced life in the portable classroom at Carlsruhe, thriving as they take on new responsibilities such as caring for the animals, tending the garden, and enjoying the creativity and teamwork involved in cubby building. It has been fantastic to watch students collaborate, play, and make the most of their new environments.

Yesterday, students enjoyed participating in National Simultaneous Storytime. This is an event that brings children together across Australia to read the same Australian picture story book at the exact same time. This event promotes literacy and the joy of shared reading. This year students read the story “Luna Roo: The Kangaroo Baller by Adam Jackson and Adrian Lloyd, illustrated by Jake A. Minton. Students enjoyed spending time together reading the story and completing an activity in which they designed a new sports jersey for Luna Roo.

Year 4 reminders

As the weather begins to get cold, wet and muddy at Carlsruhe, students are welcome to bring in a pair of gumboots to wear outdoors and while completing jobs during the day. These can be left at Carlsruhe if they wish.

Students may also bring in a pair of slippers to change into if their regular shoes become muddy or wet. This will help keep classrooms clean.

Please ensure all items are clearly named.

All students are required to bring in a full water bottle each day, as we do not have water bubblers at Carlsruhe.

We would also be very grateful if students could bring in any vegetable or fruit scraps for our chooks and guinea pigs. They are particularly fond of vegetables. Please note that guinea pigs can not have iceberg lettuce leaves, and rhubarb leaves are poisonous to all animals.

If you haven’t yet had the chance to volunteer to feed our chooks or guinea pigs at Carlsruhe on weekends or during the school holidays, we still have availability and would love your help. Please place your name on the Google doc using the link - 4BE & 4KR Animal Roster T2 2026
