A HUGE THANK YOU to everyone who helped with the garden club working bee Sat and Sunday 14 & 15 May. A total of 14 adults & 10 kids rolled up their sleeves & got dirty (& rather muddy on Sunday) helping out. It was lovely to see some visiting grandparents joining in, as well as a Woodend community member who doesn’t even have ties to WPS.

Together we:

  • finished clearing out the “Look” garden

  • made a new path to the shipping container shed to repurpose the old soil

  • removed the prickly boysenberries

  • fixed the wheelbarrows

  • pruned the mint area

  • removed the rotten old seating and brought in the new seats

  • laid bricks to flatten the classroom site in preparation for our newe bench seating.

An amazing effort!!

Special thanks to:

  • Carl for making our amazing new bench seats

  • Rusty for fixing the wheelbarrows, including taking the tyres away to get them fixed

  • Clare for all the hard yakka & comms

  • Benji for donating and delivering snacks to keep our energy levels up

The next day the Garden Club students helped move the new seats into the cleared outdoor classroom space and road-tested them.

The WPS Community Children’s Garden can’t run without everyone pitching in - THANK YOU🌻
