Foundation Unit

This week the Foundation students participated in the National Simultaneous Storytime. The whole school listened to the story ‘Luna Roo’ and completed an activity about the book. In Foundation the students discussed what makes a good team as well as colouring, cutting and gluing a picture of Luna Roo together for fine motor.

This week it is also reconciliation week. Students participated in an activity discussing how we will look after country and how we will treat everyone fairly and with kindness and respect.

In Maths, we have explored our new topic of part-part whole. This is when students investigate different ways to make a number. For example the number 10, students discovered 6 and 4 makes 10, 5, 4 and 1 makes 10 and 5 and 5 makes 10.

Students have also explored teen numbers, identifying what needs to be added to 10 to make the teen number.

Finally, the students have been exploring time. They have been working on different times of the day such as morning, afternoon and evening. As well as identifying the days of the week and what activities they participate in on these days.

In Reading and Writing  the students have continued to practice segmenting and blending their sounds together. The students were introduced to two more letters and sounds
