Merimbula Jazz Festival
On Friday 6th June, the Swing band set off for their annual trip to the Merimbula Jazz Festival. The band was received very well by audiences at all venues, including MacDonalds, Club Sapphire, RSL club and the Pambula Beach Caravan Park. Students and staff were often stopped in the street and told how fabulous they performed. This year we were very lucky to have a workshop with the Royal Australian Navy Big Band, where the students worked on two great jazz standards, I Could Write a Book, and Duke Ellington’s In a Sentimental Mood.
A huge congratulations to the students for their wonderful work and exemplary behaviour over the weekend and a special thank you to James Newman for his superb leadership and Rhonda and Wally for driving us around all weekend.
East Gippsland Music Festival
The music centre is in a flurry of preparation for the East Gippsland Music Festival. Can Parents please check the information on Compass and give approval for this activity. Students are strongly advised to do some practice to ensure they get the most out of this experience.
