East Gippsland Netball, Soccer and Badminton

Tuesday 3rd June was a big day with students competing at West Bairnsdale (Soccer), Nagle College (Badminton) and the WORLD Netball courts (Wallace St). With more than 250 students from across East Gippsland competing, BSC staff were kept very busy coaching the 6 x Netball teams, 3 x Soccer teams and 5 x Badminton teams. It was very encouraging to see so many teams representing the college and having a fantastic time doing it.

Congratulations to following teams making it through to the Gippsland level of competition –

  • Netball – Year 7 (A) and Senior Girls
  • Soccer - Year 8 Mixed and Senior Mixed
  • Badminton – Year 7 Girls and Senior Girls

Gippsland Cross Country

It is always a great day out when we compete at regional level and last Thursday 5th June was no exception. As we set up our home base at the Drouin Golf Club, the sun started pouring in, warming what was predicted to be an icy day.

With plenty of nervous energy, our 12-13 year old girls where first to tackle the 3km course. Lola, Olive, Raiven, Mahlia and Adley started their race full of exuberance, navigating the large field of competitors and giving it their best finishing strong. All of the races were contested by large groups of competitors from across Gippsland’s Secondary Schools.

It was great to see our Senior boys rewarded with a 1st team across the line in the 17-20 age group, with Patrick narrowly missing out on 3rd place on the 5km course. Throughout the day we watched our students compete at a 100 percent, most of the time finishing with a smile. Our students represented themselves, their families and our College to such a high standard making it a very successful day in all. We wish good luck to the 7 students who qualified to compete at the State Championships, have a great race.
