Year 11 Art Creative Practice

Year 11 Art Creative Practice students have been putting their creative skills into practice through an exciting collaborative artwork for our school. Working with Natalie from the Library as their client, and with the guidance of their Art Creative Practice teacher, Miss Reggardo, students have been experiencing what it is like to work as a professional group of artists. Together, they have developed ideas, responded to their client’s vision and feedback, and worked collaboratively to create an artwork designed specifically for its new home in the Library.

The artwork celebrates our local East Gippsland community, bringing together recognisable places, landscapes and experiences from across the region. Students have incorporated imagery inspired by local highlights including the Den of Nargun, the East Gippsland Historical Museum, Metung Hot Springs, alongside other familiar locations and features that help make our region unique. Throughout the project, students have been learning that creating art professionally involves much more than artistic skill. They have had to communicate with a client, listen and respond to feedback, negotiate ideas as a group, problem-solve and consider how individual contributions can come together to create one cohesive artwork.

The class is currently in their trialling stage, working through a variety of materials and techniques, trying to decide on how exactly they are contributing to the piece. We look forward to seeing the completed artwork proudly displayed in our school library!
