Arts

What a term it’s been! We’ve celebrated quite a lot in the last couple of weeks and would like to congratulate all of our wonderful Arts students for their effort and work this term.

KINGSTON ARTZ BLITZ 2025

Back in February, we ran a late-night afterschool session to get students started on their works for the Artz Blitz 24 hour Art Competition (run by the City of Kingston). Our students were extremely successful in the Youth category, with Milla B winning first prize for her artwork ‘A Tiger Can’t Change its Stripes’, and Mia S and Errie M taking out Highly Commended in 2D Art, and Bella C in the 3D category. Congratulations to all involved for their marvellous efforts! The Artz Blitz Gallery is open at the G1 & G2 Gallery of Kingston Arts Centre until April 12th.

TOP DESIGNS 2025

We also celebrated the launch of VCE Season of Excellence - Top Designs last week. Jac Ormes (class of 2024) had his Visual Communication Design work selected to be showcased in the exhibition. He was one of only 77 students statewide to be selected. He also won the Eckersley’s Art & Craft Prize for Placemaking on the night. We are extremely proud of both his efforts, and that of his teacher, Ms. Booth for their efforts over the last year. You can visit the Top Designs exhibition at the Melbourne Museum.

ART MAKING & EXHIBITING EXCURSION:

We were lucky enough to be able to take our Year 11 & 12 AME students through the Yayoi Kusama Exhibition at the NGV, as well as visiting the Ian Potter Centre and Top Arts as part of their study of exhibition spaces. It was a fantastic day and our students were inspired by all the magnificent art. They were a great representation of Parkdale and we look forward to the next exhibition visit.

Happy holidays!

The Visual Arts Team.
