Reading
At the end of Term 3, Year 6 students finished their third class novel, Two Wolves by Tristan Bancks. Students explored character development through character analysis and finished the novel with discussions and reflecti+ons on their favourite moments, the major plot twist, and whether their predictions had been correct.
This term, students have begun their final novel study for the year, The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind: Young Readers Edition. We have explored the incredible true story of William Kamkwamba and begun making predictions about his journey. Students are eager to discover more about William's experiences and see where this inspiring story takes us!

Students also explored how we can describe movement between points and how to use this movement to find new points. Year 6’s were able to compare the values of ‘x’ and ‘y’ and explain how these help us to explain direction and distance.
‘Cartesian planes have been fun learning about. It was a little hard at the start but now I know about the x and y axis and where they go.’ - AJ 6A

Inquiry
During term 3, students have been learning about economic resources and the idea of scarcity. They focussed on work and entrepreneurship, consumer decision making, budgeting and saving money, financial safety and interpreting data and trends. They learnt signs such as holiday, travel, caravan, pack, ticket, passport, journey, trip, and various clothing signs. Students also began looking at signs for junk food and takeaway foods.

Students are also expected to wear full school uniform each day. This final term is an exciting one for our Year 6 students, with graduation celebrations and our much-anticipated Funfields excursion to look forward to! We look forward to making the most of our final term together and celebrating the many achievements of our graduating students.
On Friday 9th October, our Senior Boys Basketball Team competed in their finals at Craigieburn Sports Stadium. The boys competed against five other schools, winning three out of their five games and finishing in an impressive third place! Throughout the day, the boys demonstrated fantastic sportsmanship, resilience, and teamwork. They communicated effectively on the court, supported one another, and rose to the challenges of each game. Their coaches were incredibly proud of their hard work, effort, and positive attitudes. The boys represented CPS exceptionally well!
A big thank you to the families who came along to support the team. Your encouragement helped make the day extra special for our Year 5 and 6 boys.
