Foundation and Year 1

In this fortnight, the Foundation and Year 1 students have been developing their catching skills by keeping their eyes on the ball, moving their hands towards it and practising their “bowl of soup” hand position. Students have also been practising basic basketball skills through fun station activities, focusing on taking turns, sharing equipment and participating safely.

Year 2

In this fortnight, the Year 2 students focused on developing their coordination, balance and agility through hula hoop activities and fun relay races. Students have practised moving with control, improving their speed and body awareness, and working cooperatively with their classmates. These activities encouraged teamwork, turn-taking and positive participation while building fundamental movement skills.

Year 3

Year 3 students have been developing their striking and teamwork skills through modified Tee Ball games. Students have been practising the correct two-handed batting technique, including their grip, stance, stepping towards the ball and following through with their swing. They have also been focusing on communicating effectively with teammates, participating actively and applying their skills during game situations.

Year 4 and 5

Year 4 and 5 students will spend the next three weeks developing their tennis skills, including racquet control, striking, serving and moving into position to return the ball. Students will participate in skill-based activities and modified games to improve their accuracy, coordination and ability to apply these skills during gameplay. Following tennis, students will transition to cricket, where they will develop their batting, bowling, throwing and catching skills while focusing on teamwork, communication and sportsmanship.

Year 6

Year 6 students will continue developing their netball skills through a variety of activities and modified games. Students will practise shoulder passes with a partner, shooting and rebounding, and playing Keepings Off to improve their passing accuracy, footwork and ability to create space. They will also participate in modified Matt Ball games, where they will apply teamwork, communication and game strategies to move the ball down the court and score. These activities will encourage students to make decisions, work cooperatively and apply their specialised movement skills during gameplay.
