Leadership Report

Dear CPS Community ,
Welcome back to Term 4! We hope all families enjoyed a restful break and are ready for the final term of the school year.
Another busy week has flown by!
Term 4 is always a busy and exciting time, providing opportunities to celebrate students’ learning and achievements while preparing for the year ahead. We have plenty planned across the school, and we look forward to sharing these experiences with our community.
A BIG thank you to our JSC for organising a whole school casual clothes day this week. The students all had an amazing day at school as did the teachers! We raised $355.90 to go towards our fundraising, thank you to the families for this support. This year all monies raised through our fundraising will go towards a new Foundation playground. We have engaged with a contractor for this project, works to begin in the coming weeks.
We will be celebrating our amazing teachers at CPS on Friday 30th October for World Teachers Day – Shine a light on Teachers- Friday 30 October. Our teachers who nurture, inspire, support, and empower our children and young people at Craigieburn Primary School every single day. We encourage our school community to reach out to show your gratitude whether it’s a morning or afternoon chat at the door/gate, sending a heartfelt message or thank you card, there are many simple ways to show your appreciation.
Everyone is invited to Shine a light on Australia’s teachers who inspire, support, and empower our children and young people every single day.
Staffing Update
Mrs Hayley Hofmann has commenced family leave. We are waiting to hear the pending news of her second child being born any day now. Our best wishes are with Mrs Hofmann and her growing family.
2027 Enrolments
As we continue the planning process for the 2027 school year, we would greatly appreciate if families could notify the school if your child/ren will not be returning to CPS in 2027 as soon as possible.
Any current families that are yet to enrol 2027 Foundation students are asked to do so as a priority as our 2027 Foundation Transition has already begun and we would like all new Foundation families to be involved in this program.
2027 Grade Placements
CPS is a small to medium school and as such we are not able to accommodate parent requests for grade placements, friendship groups and/or teachers. Understanding as our school
Our 2027 classes will be generated based on student needs from a social, academic, wellbeing and behavioural perspective. Teaching teams, Specialist staff, ES staff and Leadership review all classes to ensure the most appropriate placement of students.
A range of factors are considered based on some simple principles:
- Classes need to have a gender balance
- Classes need an academically and wellbeing compatible balance
- Classes need a ‘social behaviour’ balance
- Children need to be placed with familiar faces while at the same time acknowledging that some children work better with certain students than others irrespective of friendships.
Staff also look for compatible learning partners, considering current friendship groups, and encourage the development of new friendships.

A reminder Monday 4th November is a Pupil Free Day followed by the Melbourne Cup Holiday on Tuesday 5th November.
