Principal's Report

“Appreciation is a wonderful thing: It makes what is excellent in others belong to us as well.” – Voltaire

Dear families,

As we reach the end of another busy term, I want to acknowledge the incredible efforts of our staff, students, and families. Our staff have gone above and beyond to support, engage, and celebrate every student. Thank you for your dedication and care—it makes all the difference.

A highlight this term was our involvement in the AASE Conference, which brought educators from across Australia and New Zealand to Monash SDS. We were delighted to showcase our programs during the school tours and to share the work we are so proud of. Most special of all was having our students act as ambassadors at the conference, welcoming delegates, introducing sessions, and representing our school with such confidence and pride. We are so proud of our students – they continue to show us what is possible when given the chance to shine.

We also loved welcoming so many dads, carers, and special people at our Father’s Day Breakfast—a warm and joyful event that highlighted the strength of our community.

Our leadership team attended the Victorian Principals Association (VPA) Conference, where we heard from many inspiring presenters and connected with colleagues across the state. I also had the privilege of meeting the Minister for Education, Ben Carroll, which was a wonderful opportunity to share the work of Monash SDS and hear firsthand about the priorities for education in Victoria.

Looking ahead, we’ve begun the planning process for 2026—including class groupings, staffing, and programs. To help us plan effectively, please let us know if your family is intending to leave the school at the end of this year, so we can support smooth transitions for all students.

Thank you for your ongoing partnership. Wishing everyone a safe, restful break—I’m excited for the term ahead.

Warm regards,

Lindy Abernethy
