Junior School Bulletin

As we approach the final few weeks of term, there is still plenty happening across the Junior School.
We have begun our gallery walks in a few year levels, and these will continue over the coming fortnight. It has been wonderful to see students sharing their learning in such a purposeful and engaging way.
Thank you to all students and parents for their support with the co-curricular photos this week. We understand that managing multiple uniforms can be logistically challenging, and we appreciate your support.
We also have a number of key events in the final fortnight before the break. Details of these are outlined below, along with additional updates from members of the Leadership Team.
Year 7 (2027) Experience Day
Year 6 students will take part in the Clayfield Experience Day on Monday 8 June as part of our Countdown to Commencement Program.
This program provides a series of transition and orientation opportunities designed to support a confident and positive move into Senior School.
Experience Day offers students the opportunity to engage in a range of interactive activities across STEM, The Arts, Health, Wellbeing and Sport, giving them a genuine insight into Senior School life in a relaxed and engaging environment.
Later in the year, students will also participate in Orientation Day (12 October), continuing this transition journey and further building familiarity with the campus, routines and staff.
Together, these experiences support students to build confidence, develop connections and ensure a smooth transition to Year 7.
We look forward to continuing to support our students as they begin this important next stage of their Clayfield journey.
Junior Co-Curricular Semester 1 Assembly
A reminder that there will be no Junior Assembly on Tuesday 9 June. The co-curricular awards assembly will instead be held at 2:00pm on Tuesday 16 June (Week 9). Families are warmly invited to join us as we celebrate our sports awardees, Da Vinci Decathlon and All Hallows Maths Tournament participants, along with a number of musical performances.
Readers Cup Competition
Our Years 5 and 6 Readers Cup team will be representing Clayfield College at the regional competition on Wednesday 10 June at Somerville House.
We wish our team all the very best as they participate in this wonderful opportunity to engage with literature, collaborate and challenge themselves alongside other schools.
Andrews Cup Netball & Britton Shield Football - Rescheduled Dates
Following recent weather disruptions, both the Andrews Cup Netball and Britton Shield Football competitions have been rescheduled.
Our Year 4 and 5 girls will now travel to Toowoomba on Monday 8 June to take part in the Andrews Cup Netball competition. We wish both teams all the very best as they represent the College.
The Britton Shield Football competition will be held on Thursday 11 June at BBC.
We look forward to hearing about these experiences and congratulate all students involved for their commitment and preparation. Thank you, as always, for your ongoing engagement and support throughout the term.
Further information can be found in the Junior Sport Bulletin.
Gibson House - Farmer’s Day Fundraiser
On Friday 5 June 2026 (Week 7), Gibson House will host a special Fundraiser for Farm Angels with a Free Dress Day where students are invited to dress like a farmer in flannels, boots, hats and country-style outfits. Please note, all outfits are to be appropriate in line with school appearance expectations.
All funds raised will be donated to Farm Angels, an Australian charity dedicated to supporting rural and farming families doing it tough. We look forward to seeing students and staff in their famer outfits. Thank you for supporting Gibson House’s nominated charity, Farm Angels, and our Aussie farmers!

Year 5 Defining Moments Gallery Walk
On Tuesday afternoon, our Year 5 students proudly showcased their learning in an engaging and interactive presentation exploring Defining Moments During Colonisation (1788–1901). Working collaboratively in cross-class groups, students brought history to life through creative displays, multimedia elements and confident oral presentations.
Visitors explored a wide range of significant events, including the Gold Rush, Eureka Stockade, Women’s Suffrage, the Overland Telegraph and important stories such as the Myall Creek Massacre and the contributions of South Sea Islanders. Other groups examined the impact of introduced species, whaling and sport on communities and the environment.
Each group combined research, visuals and storytelling to explain why these moments shaped Australia’s past.
The showcase provided a valuable opportunity for students to present to a wider audience, building confidence and communication skills while demonstrating strong teamwork. Every student contributed a unique element to their display, whether through artwork, models, digital media or spoken explanations, making the afternoon both informative and entertaining. We thank our families for their support in celebrating the students’ hard work, creativity and deepening understanding of Australian history.
