Year 12 Formal!

On Friday, 18 October the Year 12 cohort came together at Leonda by the Yarra to celebrate the end of their official schooling.

The night involved speeches, awards, dancing, a freestyle rap by Mr Dennis, photobooth photos and the highly anticipated formal video.

The students looked absolutely wonderful, and the energy and happiness in the room was overwhelming.

It was a fantastic way to conclude the year and on behalf of all the staff at DSC, I wish the students all the best for their exams.

Phone Free Friday

As part of preparing for the 2020 mobile phone ban, we are introducing Phone Free Fridays from November 8. If students choose to bring their phone to school on this day, they are expected to keep it secured in their locker from 9am - 3:15pm.

The purpose of Phone Free Fridays is to allow students and staff to get used to what school will be like without phones next year.

Students who are caught using their phone on this day will be given a detention and asked to hand their phone over for confiscation: phones will be held securely in the relevant sub school until the end of the day. If a student refuses to surrender their phone, they will be issued with a consequence for refusing to follow a reasonable instruction from a staff member.

We hope students and families will take the opportunity that Phone Free Friday provides to make the transition to a completely phone free school environment easier for everyone involved.

If you have any issues, please don't hesitate to contact me.

Ziggy and Bowie Make the Grade at Puppy School

Our DSC school dogs Ziggy and Bowie continue to progress through their training with Brad from Therapy dogs Australia. This training session focused on training the dogs to stay in one spot until instructed to move.

We started with a large plastic tub where they were encouraged to put their two front paws on the tub. Eventually we will work our way down to a small mat.

Both dogs passed the session with flying colours with Ziggy taking it little further by sitting on the tub!
